This comes in many parts of about 9-10 mins each, but is actually one longer documentary. The film focuses on prom night at a particular high school in Charleston, Mississippi, which has, incredibly, had a segregated prom night up until 2008, with separate proms for black and white students. An initiative by actor Morgan Freeman challenges the students to organise, for the first time in the history of the school, an integrated prom night.
The racial issues in play are quite obvious, but you may want to reflect on whether there are other similar social inequities that may still remain. Are the actions of these students exceptional? Can other social issues be confronted in a similar fashion?
